With the news earlier this week that MySpace’s events application has overtaken Evite by a significant margin, it becomes interesting to look at some of the demographic information for social networks. According to Anderson Analytics MySpace has huge adoption rates among younger audiences, and trails off when it comes to the older set. I think this indicates the growing popularity and importance of online event registration in the younger set.
Social networks which feature prominent event applications are now so pervasive in the 13-24 age segment that the younger set is starting to view online event registration as the norm and a necessary part of their social experience. In my experience as a college student, a lot of times I wouldn’t even get a phone call for an upcoming party, it was replaced by an event notification of Facebook. Even Twitter, which doesn’t have an built in events feature, is being used to organize events and report on events via third party applications and the use of #tags.
As online event registration becomes an inseparable part of the youth market’s social planning and schedule, the important question for online event registration software becomes; how do we capture this market without being backed by one of the big social networks?

We have been hard at work here implementing custom themes for a number of clients and wanted to share some of the work with you. Take a few moments and check these out. Also, we are providing multiple levels of themes for account holders, if you are interested, drop us a note. Here are a few samples
Basic Themes
IP Pay has a straight forward theme, incorporating their brand colors, custom banner, fonts and overall color scheme. These themes are quick to implement and have a major impact on the overall look and feel of your events

IP pay
Branded Themes
SIlicon Florist incorporates the exact look of their website, navication, custom buttons, font colors, etc. This makes for a seamless transition for your users.

Silicon Florist
Custom Themes
While this event may appear to be a simple design we were able to customize the registration elements, hide options, and brand it completely to the rest of the Rosey Award’s website.

I came across a great blog post today on the EventManagerBlog and thought I would post it here as it is very relevant and might bring you some ideas on how to run your next event.
A lot of discussion took place over the past week about free vs paid, reality is that there is much more out there than just charging a fee to attend.
It’s no new topic, we know. But lately Chris Anderson re-introduced it, Malcom Gladwell made a big deal out of it and Seth Godin gave the final word. On our end,Jeff Hurt asked us all a question and we are here to do our small bit.
Reality is event professionals are challenged by the current market conditions. The ‘I charge you 800$/€/£ entry ticket’ superb marketing technique apparently does not work anymore. Possibly because attendees are increasingly empowered to blog, tweet and share how crap an event was. That was not the case before social networks and media.
I was asked by Cece Lee about an alternative model for (virtual) events rather than charging a fee. Although I felt an urgency to keep it for myself, I subsequently thought that sharing results of a 3 hours brainstorming session could benefit our industry, even if 2 event planners will change their rotten practice and take action. Hopefully starting tomorrow.
One condition. And it is not about safeguarding my butt. What follows is the result of a small brainstorming session with few friends and event experts as well as weeks of reading. It’s not meant to be a guide. It’s not necessarily applicable to all sorts of events. It may not refer to what you do.
The idea is to think out of the box for once and stimulate your business practice to be innovative and disruptive. If you can think of more please do comment and add your perspective.

Thanks to all the great feedback we have received during our Beta Phase we have been able to dedicate time to adding some fresh new features to eROI Event.
Customize Your Theme
You now can control the look and feel of your events. With access to your account’s style sheet, header and footer, as well as the ability to upload assets to the new asset library so that your brand identity can be applied throughout the registration experience.

Custom Ticket Fields
Ticket fields are collected separately for each ticket and with this feature you can set up ticket specific fields that you would like to ask your users. This can include additional contact information, demograhic information, or even preferences such as meal preference or seat preference. Our slick new interface makes it so easy to add and edit these filed. All data will be stored and accessed on the back end.

We all love a good report, and now eROI Event reports are about to get even sexier. With our next release you will see your registrant and financial reporting data displayed in colorful interactive graphs. Heck you can even see the two sets of data harmoniously combined together with the click of a check box. Better yet you can export the data to a handy dandy CSV. Happy Reporting!

very few months at eROI, all the managers keep a day free on their schedule to hold one-on-one meetings with employees and other managers. These meetings allow employees to ask any questions they have, frustrations, learn something new, express interests and wants, and talk about generally anything they want in a non-judgmental open forum. Before we had just put up a calendar for the day and allowed people to sign up on the manager’s respective door. This became a scheduling nightmare, having to check your calendar, then the managers and what slots are left, etc.
So since the launch of eROI Event, all the managers are using the free version to manage the schedules of their meetings and send confirmation emails, like this:

So if you need to manage a schedule like this, give eROI Event a try. If you want to setup an event like the one described above, all you need to do is create a ticket for each timeslot, simple as that. If you have questions, leave us a comment and we will get you an answer ASAP.

Thanks to our great clients, things have been rocking with our Beta launch. One aspect of the new eROI Event Platform that we keep getting a ton of positive feedback about is our Event Schedule feature. This feature allows you to display the agenda of your events to your clients in time based increments. This really helps to not only organize and plan your event, but also sets expectations with your event attendees on how your event will flow once they are in attendance. This feature is great if you have multiple sessions, speaking engagements, breaks or meetings throughout the course of your event.

Once you set your agenda in the admin area and publish your event, your schedule shows up in an easy to read format on your Event Detail Page.

So set up your Free Event Account, check out the Schedule Feature, and let us know what you think!
